Why promote Inquiry-Based Science Programming?
S.P.A.R.K.S. Foundation funds quality, inquiry-based science programming which promotes an interest and curiosity within elementary children, regardless of their socio-economic status.
To Our Community…
We aim to further our communities’ efforts in science education by providing additional inquiry-based science programming for students regardless of socio-economic status. As a result, children will develop a new appreciation and curiosity for the world around them, building the fundamentals to become productive, proactive adults.
To Our Sponsoring Partners…
With your support, S.P.A.R.K.S. Foundation will provide children in our community with inquiry-based science programs which foster a lifelong love of science and learning. Our partners benefit from these programs through community outreach, media attention and volunteer opportunities. Our partners develop their own employee relations as they support and invest in their community and their business.
To Our Educational Community…
We aim to supplement your classroom lessons by funding age-appropriate inquiry-based science programming aligned with the National Science Standards to create a sense of wonder and awe in students.
S.P.A.R.K.S. Foundation was founded in 2003 in memory of J. Clark Moorehead, the husband of founder, Jennifer Moorehead. S.P.A.R.K.S. is an acronym for science projects are really kids’ stuff. It was developed as an outreach for families who wanted to provide inquiry-based science education for their children but are unable to because of socio-economic situations.
Since S.P.A.R.K.S. was founded, we have delivered programming to tens of thousands of children through assemblies, club scholarships, science summer camp scholarships, classroom visitations in six different states for the last seven years.
