“The Science Explorers activities were thoughtful, creative and very exciting! There isn’t a better way to get the entire school fired up about science! Science Explorers is an extremely beneficial hands-on experience for ALL students! Our students of all abilities (from the gifted to special needs) were excited and engaged in science activities. Science Explorers provided unique activities for our children they would never, in their lifetime, experience! Our students talked about the awesome activities they did all year long! The science topics were very relevant to the state standards for our science curriculum The Science Explorer staff was profession, knowledgeable, and extremely enthusiastic! (Not to forget FUN!) Science Explorers exhibit an enthusiasm for science that is contagious! The Science Explorers program promotes a curiosity in science and learning! We miss Science Explorers this year!” – Ruthie Gordon, Fourth grade teacher

From the time they dissected a shark to the fun (and safe) chemistry experiments they brought home to share with me, I have been amazed at the variety of great activities the Science Explorers folks come up with. My daughter even wanted to attend Take A Dive camp a second time last summer! I can’t say enough about Science Explorers. It’s my kids favorite part of every summer.” – Claudia Lewis, parent

Organizers decided they had encountered an exceptional organization that needed to be recognized so they created the “Making a Difference” award for Science Explorers and its founder, Jennifer Moorehead.

“Ms. Moorehead’s dedication to the idea that “science projects are really kid stuff” and that children are inspired when they have the opportunity to learn through a hands-on approach garnered our desire to recognize her commitment to demystifying science and inspiring children to love science,” stated Kelly Lewis, President & CEO of the Technology Council .

“Jupiter Jen” as she is known to thousands of children started the company in 1998 with the help of SCORE, (Service Corps of Retired Executives), a nonprofit association dedicated to encouraging the formation, growth, and success of small businesses nationwide through counseling and mentor programs. With their assistance the company won the first Ben Franklin Transformation Business Services Network Award. “We are happy to have been there from the start and watched the program take off!” stated Wayne Murphy, Science Explorers’ SCORE mentor. Over the years the company and its non-for-profit arm, The S.P.A.R.K.S. Foundation, has expanded its after school programs, summer camps, family science nights and classroom visitation programs into eight states. “We are working together with children, families, schools and communities,” Moorehead told us, “to put the wonder back in the world, one child at time”.
